Host Cities and Venues

Across the country, eight venues hosted matches, bringing the game to new audiences and new locations for the first time. Brighton, Bristol, Exeter, London, Manchester, Northampton, Sunderland and York hosted pool matches that saw England land the trophy in front of the biggest final crowd ever.

The Red Roses

The Red Roses displayed elite cohesiveness and supreme skill on their dominant journey to the knockouts. They were last crowned champions in 2014, and In 2021, they lost 34-31 at Eden Park to the Black Ferns in arguably one of the greatest finals of all time. The stage was set for another iconic clash of historic rivals, but a hungry and resolved Canadian side had other ideas, shocking the Black Ferns and securing their ticket to face the Red Roses in a record-smashing final. The visitors swiftly struck first with a score down the left wing, but on home soil at the Allianz and roared on by partisan home support, the Red Roses fought back through scores from a side-stepping Ellie Kildunne and powerful Amy Cockayne. This set the tone for what was a clinical and commanding performance from England, securing a 33-13 win and a third world cup victory. The Red Roses had once again proven themselves to be the very best in the world.
