Getting to Stadio Olimpico

Roma 24H Travel Ticket Information

As part of your booking, you will receive a Roma 24H Ticket, which provides unlimited travel within the city of Rome for 24 hours from the time of first validation. This ticket is included for your convenience on match day should you wish to use public transport to and from the stadium. However, you may use it at any time during your stay if you prefer to walk to the stadium. Please note that this ticket cannot be used for airport transfers.

Where You Can Use the Ticket

Within the territory of Rome:

  • Buses, trams, and trolleybuses

  • Cotral buses (urban routes)

  • Metro lines

  • Regional trains (REG) (urban routes): Trenitalia (2nd class only), Metromare, Termini-Centocelle, and Roma-Viterbo

  • Bus lines 520 and 720 connecting Rome to Ciampino Airport

Not Valid For:

  • Cotral special connection Roma Tiburtina/Termini–Fiumicino Airport

  • Trenitalia “no stop” connection Roma Termini–Fiumicino Airport

Important Reminders:

  • Validate your ticket at the start of each journey. Validators are located on buses, trams, trolleybuses, regional trains, and at metro station turnstiles.

  • Keep your ticket for the entire journey and present it during inspections along with an identity document.

If a Validator Malfunctions:

  • On public transport, write the date, time, and station or vehicle number on your ticket.

  • On Trenitalia trains, visit a ticket office or speak to the conductor.

Penalty Fares:
Traveling without a valid ticket or with an irregular ticket may result in a fine of €100–€500, plus ticket cost and administrative fees. The penalty is reduced to €50 if paid within 5 days. Penalties apply if:
  • Your ticket is not validated correctly

  • You use a counterfeit or expired ticket

  • You use the ticket on special connections requiring a specific fare

  • You use a ticket with insufficient coverage

  • You present a personal pass without completed details or ID

Digital tickets are also available via partner apps. For more information, visit:
https://www.atac.roma.it/en/tickets-and-passes/roma24h

The travel card (one per person) will be sent to you by Royal Mail two weeks prior to the event weekend.

If your Rome day travel card (paper or electronic) isn't working, try tapping it again on different validators (yellow boxes on buses/trams, turnstiles in metros) as they can be faulty. If it still fails, immediately ask for assistance from metro staff, or use digital alternatives like the MooneyGo, TicketAppy, or Tap & Go (credit card/phone) to avoid fines, which range from €50 to €100.

Steps to Take If Your Card Fails:

Try Other Validators: Bus and tram validators often fail; try another machine on the same vehicle.
Locate Staff: At metro stations, speak to an employee at the gate for assistance.
Switch to Tap & Go: Use a contactless credit/debit card or smartphone (NFC) directly at the terminal (metro turnstile or bus machine).
Use Apps: Download apps like MooneyGo, Tabnet, or TicketAppy to purchase new digital tickets instantly.
Manual Validation (Paper Ticket): If you have a paper day pass that won't validate, write the date, time, and your name on the back to show intent, though this is not a guaranteed defense against inspectors.
Buy a New Ticket: If all else fails, buy a new ticket to avoid a heavy fine, which can be issued even on Sundays.
