Currency

Scotland uses the Great British Pound. Banks in Scotland also print their own Scottish pound notes, however you should not have a problem using British notes anywhere in Scotland.

Airport

Edinburgh Airport is situated just 8.4 miles outside of the city centre. Hosting a variety of excellent transport links as listed below, journey time into the city centre is approximately 30 minutes.

Taxi

You can pick up a black cab from Edinburgh Airport’s own private hire taxi rank, located on the ground floor of the multi-storey car park. You can also pre-book Edinburgh Airport's official private hire service either online, or by calling 0844 448 8576. In the city centre, black cabs can be hailed in the street or picked up from a taxi rank.

Bus

The Airlink bus service operates a fast and frequent service into Edinburgh city centre, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with buses running every 10 minutes during the day. Other stops include BT Murrayfield Stadium and Edinburgh Zoo. Return ticket fares start at £7.50 per person.

Tram

Edinburgh hosts a 14km tram route with stops from York Place in the city centre, all the way to Edinburgh Airport. Tickets/tram smartcards can be bought at each stop and must be validated before boarding - simply touch them to the card reader on one of the smartcard validator machines on the tram stop platform. Tram fares from Edinburgh Airport to the city centre: • Adult single - £5.50 Adult return - £8.50 • Child single - £3.00 Child return - £4.50 The return journey is open, and can be taken when needed. A standard on-board fare of £10.00 is charged to any passenger who cannot provide a validated ticket/smartcard to the ticket attendant.
