Transport
DART - The capital’s iconic DART (Dublin Area Rapid Transit) system is a fast and frequent way of travelling in the city. Trains run regularly both on and off-peak, operating every 15 minutes all day. Trains are kitted out with free Wi-Fi and provide one of the speediest ways to transport you around the city, not to mention the hidden beaches, seaside village and harbour restaurants secreted away along Dublin’s stunning coastline.
Luas - Luas is Dublin’s light-rail transit service - a swift, reliable tram system crossing the city on two lines. During peak travel times 0700hrs to 1000hrs and 1600hrs to 1900hrs Luas trams operate every four to five minutes. Off peak trams will run every 10 to 15 minutes. Tickets for Luas can be purchased at streetside vending machines.
Bus - Dublin has an extensive network of public bus routes, making it super-easy to get around not just the city centre, but the inner and outer suburbs too.
Taxi - All taxis in Ireland have a large yellow and blue roof-sign and door signage. Taxis may be hailed in the street, picked up at a taxi rank or ordered by phone/app. All taxis are metered, and charges are the same throughout the country. Taxis have a fares sticker on the dash board and fare cards in the seat pockets which explain the fares.
The main taxi ranks in the city centre are located on O’Connell Street, up towards Parnell Square and on College Green opposite the Bank of Ireland and the main gate into Trinity College. Additional night-time taxi ranks operate between 2000hrs and 0600hrs on several locations in the city centre, including Dame Street and Merrion Row.
