Italy v England - 16.45, 14 March

This is one of the favourite destinations for England fans in any Six Nations calendar.

Rome is always awash with white shirts, the atmosphere on matchday is partisan and the Peroni Village is one of the highlights of the weekend.

But there is more to an away weekend than just the rugby. Rome embraces you with its vast history – from the Colosseum, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain and The Vatican, there is enough culture that it’s almost impossible to cram it all in. And then there is the food and the wine – what’s not to like? If there is one rugby experience to undertake in 2020, this is the one.

The hotel - 13 March to 16 March

Your break will include accommodation at Starhotels Metropole.

The hotel is located close to the Termini railway station and the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma from where it’s just a short walk to Rome’s most iconic monuments.

Like any major city, Rome is a hive of activity, history and culture and you are in the perfect place to get right at the heart of it. You can dine in the Apicio restaurant which serves authentic Roman cuisine or enjoy a light snack, coffee or cocktail in the Rendez-Vous Bar.

From the priests in their purple, the living 3,000 year old history, the noise, fantastic street life, awe-inspiring architecture to great food and good living, Rome is an incredible city.

Ancient icons such as the Colosseum, Roman Forum and Pantheon recall the cities golden age as ‘caput mundi’ (capital of the world), while St Peter’s Basilica is the Vatican’s incredible showpiece church, a masterpiece of Renaissance architecture.

A trip to Rome is more than just a rugby weekend. It’s the chance to discover life, history and the culture that is around every corner, under every step and on almost every wall.

Throw in some great wine and great food, there is every ingredient for a wonderful travel experience.
