NICK HAILS SPECIAL RBS 6 NATIONS
ITV’s lead Rugby World Cup commentator Nick Mullins has hailed England Rugby Travel’s ‘special events’ as one of his ‘highlights’ of the Tournament – and is now looking forward to a great 2012 RBS 6 Nations Championship.
Nick was the host at three exclusive England Rugby Travel events in New Zealand and will join the many hundreds of England fans at Europe’s marquee international rugby event next year.
England will be guaranteed a wave of patriotic support throughout the competition with fans already booked with England Rugby Travel – and Nick believes they could witness England’s most important RBS 6 Nations campaign for a decade – particularly with three away games in Edinburgh, Rome and Paris.
“The England Rugby Travel special event evenings were one of my highlights of the tour – they were a fantastic build up to the weekend’s games,” he said.
“The guests were of such a high quality that it really got everybody up for the rugby. They were fantastic and put everybody in the mood perfectly.”
Nick was in Auckland for the showpiece Rugby World Cup Final that New Zealand won 8-7 against France and with Scotland’s growing threat that took England so close in the pool stages, England face a real RBS 6 Nations Championship challenge in the opening fixture and then in Paris later in the competition.
“I can genuinely see this Championship as England’s most important for a decade because of the number of young players they are developing for four years time and also how the fixtures fall,” Nick said.
“I love the RBS 6 Nations – I just think it lands brilliantly as a bridge between winter and the first signs of spring – it’s a great competition.
“You have for the earthiness of the welcomes you get in Dublin, Edinburgh and Cardiff, while Paris and Rome provide something more exotic. There is something about a warm weekend afternoon, the great views from the coffee shops and mixing with the young and stylish!
“Italy has great possibilities because Rome is a fantastic weekend that is wrapped up around culture and a rugby experience that is really welcoming, I just think it has something for everyone for fantastic weekends.”
