IT WILL BE A SPECIAL EXPERIENCE

England fan Steve Jones is a Rugby World Cup veteran and is relishing the prospect of following England’s hopes and dreams at his sixth global gathering in New Zealand.

IT WILL BE A SPECIAL EXPERIENCE

The only Rugby World Cup Steve has missed was the first one, back in New Zealand in 1987. He even spent his honeymoon perched behind the posts in Sydney on that rain-lashed night back in 2003 when Jonny did his stuff – and will be in the thick of the action again when England look to reach their third successive Final this time round.

As more and more fans jet into the land of the Long White Cloud for the defining weeks of the competition, Steve is revved up for the holiday of a lifetime.

“I have held off holidaying in New Zealand to combine Rugby and exploring so I am really looking forward to some great Rugby and some spectacular scenery,” he told England Rugby Travel’s official website.

“I love the camaraderie of Rugby World Cup - it’s so special. I am actually going a week ahead of my wife – she still does not believe me that I am doing it in her best interests and despite my assurances that I am going to find the best restaurants and sights - I may squeeze in the odd beer or two!

England are always guaranteed great support at Rugby World Cup and the 2003 Tournament marked a watershed in the number of fans who were prepared to travel across the globe to simply be able to say ‘I was there’.

“Rugby World Cup in Australia was our honeymoon and we were behind the posts to watch Jonny drop the goal. We both agreed it was the best moment of the honeymoon,” he said.

“The feeling of being in a stadium the other side of the world amongst a sea of England shirts is very special. It’s also a one off and the Tournament brings out special performances.

“We travelled back and forth to France six times in 2007 and followed England all the way to the Final despite so many saying we were not going to progress beyond the pools after the first South Africa game.

“Whatever happens this time we know we are going to see the best in the world and that is a feast for any Rugby fan.”

It’s still possible to join Steve and many other England fans with the last few remaining packages to Rugby World Cup. For more information, click here
