FANS URGED TO BACK CHRISTCHURCH APPEAL

As Rugby World Cup 2011 goes from strength to strength in New Zealand, England Rugby Travel has thrown its backing behind a special appeal to raise money for the earthquake hit region of Christchurch – and we are asking England fans to help!

Although many fans are still heading to Christchurch and the Canterbury region to discover one of Rugby’s truly great heartlands, all five Rugby World Cup 2011 pool games and both quarter-finals planned for Christchurch were moved following the devastating earthquake in February.

But now the RWC Christchurch Appeal has been launched to help restore clubs, schools and communities in need of repair and development. All funds raised through the Appeal will be passed on to the Canterbury Rugby Earthquake Charitable Trust administered by the Canterbury Rugby Football Union.

“It shows the strength of the local and national communities that New Zealand has coped so well in such a short space of time. Many of our clients sent messages of support when the earthquake happened and many are still committed to visiting such a wonderful region. We would urge any fan to support this appeal,” said England Rugby Travel’s head of sales and marketing Justin Hopwood.

The Appeal is playing a central role at Rugby World Cup 2011, with promotion taking place across all 48 matches in stadia, online and in the match programmes. Fans wishing to donate to the Appeal can do so via a simple process at www.rwcchristchurchappeal.com.
