FANS STILL FLYING THE FLAG
England may be home from Rugby World Cup 2011 after their quarter-final defeat to France but fans continue to fly the flag in New Zealand.
Although England’s army of followers may have been drowning their sorrows in Auckland’s favourite watering holes following England’s 19-12 defeat, they have still been discovering some unforgettable attractions, sampling the local wine on an exclusive tasting excursion, hitting the golf courses, bungy jumping and feeling the need for speed on the Shotover Jet.
And with two more evening events planned at the Auckland Rydges Harbourview Hotel on the Fridays before the semi-final and Final, England Rugby Travel clients are packing in as much as they can between now and the end of the competition.
“The fans who were at the special event last Friday loved it,” said Matt Reay from the England Rugby Travel events team. “It was a step up from what they were expecting and we hope the next two events will be just as popular.”
Fans are still arriving for the final stages of the Tournament and England Rugby Travel’s head of sales and marketing, Justin Hopwood, said: “There was obviously great anticipation England would reach the last four of Rugby World Cup 2011 but that hasn’t stopped fans really taking the chance to explore New Zealand with England Rugby Travel.
“The experience of a Rugby World Cup is unique which is why there is so much more on offer than purely the games – and fans have not wasted an opportunity to go and discover what New Zealand has on offer.”
