FANS MEET THE SEVENS TEAM IN HONG KONG
An exclusive up close and personal glimpse into the heart of the England sevens team was the highlight for fans who made the trip with England Rugby Travel to Hong Kong to see the crown jewel event on the international sevens circuit.
As coach Ben Ryan and captain Ben Gollings put the squad through a series of fine-tuning tests ahead of the tournament, a group of fans saw first-hand what it takes to become the ultimate sevens specialist.
Everyone who booked England Rugby Travel’s full travel package had the opportunity to see some of the brightest talent on the planet put through their paces and as Paul from Shropshire explained, it was an experience not to be missed: “I travelled with two friends and quite simply wouldn’t miss the Hong Kong Sevens.
“For us it is the complete sevens event. For its carnival, party-like atmosphere, quality of the rugby and the fact the Hong Kong Sevens is such a renowned event makes it a great experience for any rugby fan.
“But to see the England guys during a training session was the perfect way to complete a great trip. It is what makes these things so special.”
England Rugby Travel’s complete allocation of tours sold out for the competition in 2011. Alongside international flights, hotel accommodation, transfers and three days worth of tickets to the rugby, everyone who booked with England Rugby Travel received a limited edition Hong Kong Sevens shirt.
“The electricity in the stadium has to be experienced to be believed,” Paul added. “In our shirts we did England proud!”
Fellow traveller, Ian Brentnall from Nottingham (pictured above) was the lucky winner of a draw for a signed England Sevens shirt, and was presented with his prize by England captain Ben Gollings.
