2011 RBS 6 NATIONS REVIEW

Ireland’s 24-8 victory at the Aviva Stadium denied England a 13th Grand Slam but they still finished top of the pile for the first time since 2003, the year they won Rugby World Cup in Australia.

In arguably the most competitive tournament for years, England finished on eight points, two ahead of France, Ireland and Wales, while Scotland and Italy won a game each. But that tells only a fraction of the story.

Ireland’s remorselessness against England, the glimpses of mercurial brilliance of France and Wales, the durability of Scotland and the continued emergence of Italy made the 2011 RBS 6 Nations Championship one of the most intriguing and captivating competitions in sport.

England fans enjoyed a series of sensational weekends and trips to Twickenham for the 2011 competition. Julia Robinson enjoyed the opening weekend in Cardiff to celebrate her sister Fran’s birthday. “The experience was fantastic, a weekend away to watch international rugby, surrounded in a hotel and a city with like-minded rugby fans and with very little effort to arrange on my part - I’d definitely go again.” she said.
