Durban - What to do

Durban enjoys some great beaches, so it would be wrong not visit the Golden Mile, or at least enjoy a drink along the sea front.

This unique Marine World showcases the diversity of marine life found in the Western Indian Ocean. Explore the sunken vessel to really get a look at the fascinating marine wildlife close up.

The marine mammal and bird department houses Atlantic and Indian Ocean bottlenose dolphins, Cape Fur seals and African penguins. A must for animal lovers.

Durban Botanical Gardens

Durban's Botanical Gardens where established in 1849 on the eastern slope of the Berea Ridge as a site for growing experimental tropical crops is a proud example of 19th-century enterprise and enthusiasm.

The gardens are world famous for the original specimens of Encephalartos woodii, a cycad that is still acknowledged as probably the rarest plant in the world, as well as for its comprehensive collection of other Southern African cycad species.

Florida Road

Definately the happening street in Durban. Restaurants, Bars Cafe's and Boutique shopping in a happy friendly Durban hang out. Visit on a Saturday and see a mixture of Cultural weddings all having their photos taken.

The Golden Mile

The Golden Mile, the nickname for the beaches near downtown that stretch along the Indian Ocean and is well known for it's excellent surfing. There are also play pools and playgrounds for children along the waterfront, as well as hotel, bars and restaurants.
